$243,250 to Marlborough organisations
In its first round of funding in 2016 under its new Funding Framework Rātā Foundation (formerly The Canterbury Community Trust) has announced funding of $243,250 to Marlborough organisations working in the community. This is compared to funding requests of over $350,360. Chief Executive Louise Edwards says there had been a high demand under this round’s funding budget, particularly under the Foundation’s new Large Grant programme. “Having moved from a closing date driven form of funding to a new framework we knew demand for funding would be high, especially under the present community conditions.”

$516,257 to Nelson organisations working in the community

This is compared against funding requests of over $965,049. Chief Executive Louise Edwards says there had been a high demand under this round’s funding budget, particularly under the Foundation’s new Large Grant programme. “Having moved from a closing date driven form of funding to a new framework we knew demand for funding would be high, especially under the present community conditions.”

Collaborative partnerships feature prominently in $3.2m funding round
In its first round of funding in 2016 under its new Funding Framework Rātā Foundation (formerly The Canterbury Community Trust) has announced funding of over $3.2 million to Canterbury organisations working in the community. This is compared against funding requests of over $6.2 million. Chief Executive Louise Edwards says there had been a high demand under this round’s funding budget, particularly under the Foundation’s new Large Grant programme. “Having moved from a closing date driven form of funding to a new framework we knew demand for funding would be high, especially under the present community conditions.”

Our New Kaumatua - Peter Mason
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Mason as Rātā Foundation’s Kautmatua,” says Roger Bridge, Chair of Rātā Foundation. “The Kaumatua role is new for our organisation and will tautoko (support) kaitiaki (trustees) and kaimahi (staff) in our endeavours to engage effectively with Māori communities with our takiwā (region) of Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson and the Chatham Islands.” “This dedicated role ensures our commitment to Te Ao Māori. Peter will provide cultural leadership, support and advice to the Foundation especially in nurturing relationships with Iwi around our takiwā,” he says.

Rata Foundation champions collaborative solutions to rebuild communities through its $300,000 building projects funding in Nelson
Rātā Foundation (formerly the Canterbury Community Trust) has announced grants totaling $300,000 have been approved to two Nelson organisations for building projects, which are not only truly collaborative projects but are in their own way providing unique solutions to the problems their communities are currently facing.

Trust grants $152,300 to support health and well-being in the Marlborough region
The Canterbury Community Trust has announced $152,300 in grants into the Marlborough region for its Health and Wellbeing funding sector. The Trust received funding requests totalling over $562,000. According to Chief Executive, Louise Edwards, applications in this area over the last three years are almost double the amount of the Trust’s available budget for this sector, with grants approved totalling $738,000 against $1.8 million in funding requests.
