What motivated you to join Rātā Foundation?
A combination of factors motivated me to join Rātā Foundation – mainly I was excited about the Foundation’s vision and the prospect of playing a part in its continuing evolution and momentum. Being part of what is clearly a great team, doing great work was certainly another contributing factor! In my past role I have seen first-hand the difference which leadership and supportive funding can make and I wanted to continue working in a sector I am passionate about. The opportunity to live in Christchurch and build connections into the Nelson, Marlborough and Chatham Island communities was also a big draw card. The family were pretty keen as well!!
What is your vision for the organisation?
I believe Rātā Foundation has a unique role to play as a funder in our communities. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and gaining a better understanding of the needs, ideas and perspectives of the people and communities of our four funding regions. I want Rātā Foundation to continue to provide proactive leadership to those around us and challenge ourselves about how we invest in our communities. I also want to enhance the health and wellbeing of our team and continue to make Rātā Foundation a great and compelling place to work for.
What are you most passionate about supporting in the community?
I’m passionate about supporting great ideas which make a difference and share and empower communities to dream and achieve their aspirations. I’m particularly interested in the areas of education, social enterprise and providing awesome community spaces for people to enjoy and connect. I’m really committed to innovation and expanding the role of philanthropy.
