What motivated you to join Rātā Foundation?
Accounting has taken me all round the world. I’ve worked in the UK, the US and of course, the mighty Aotearoa. What is motivating to me here at Rātā Foundation is I am part of a team – each one of us has a part to play in assisting our wider community be more resilient, and to fund projects which benefit our kids in the future.
What are you personally most passionate about in supporting the community?
It is the breadth and type of initiatives Rātā Foundation supports. It’s a privilege to see the wide range of really decent initiatives which are going on in our community. Now, even though I am merely the number cruncher, I count it as a privilege to see the immense amount of great stuff enabled by the resources which have been entrusted to us.
What do you find the most rewarding aspects of your work at Rātā Foundation?
My role here at Rātā Foundation is Management Accountant. While I’ve tried to break the 'accountant' mould over the years by being at different times a radio DJ, a soldier, a preacher, half marathon runner, basketball player I keep on coming back to the liberating realisation (without precluding any of these things) I like number crunching. I’m a Chartered Accountant by trade so its really fulfilling to me to be part of the financial systems here which keep our funding programmes running smoothly.
What gets you up in the morning?
Knowing when I get to work I have the opportunity to combine something I really enjoy doing with the opportunity to contribute towards the goals and vision of Rātā Foundation.
