Connecting during COVID-19: Mental Health Education & Resource Centre

Taking the time to pause and enjoy the simple things in life is key to maintaining wellbeing during lockdown.

Mental Health Education and Resource Centre (MHERC) Director Adele Wilkinson says looking after your mental health and wellbeing is essential, during the changing COVID-19 Alert Levels, to managing stress and uncertainty.

She says practicing the Five Ways to Wellbeing can help ease the mental strain many are experiencing currently – these include Connect, Give, Be Active, Take Notice and Keep Learning.

MHERC, has launched through their website, a number of online webinars to assist those working in the mental health and addiction service sector to help their clients navigate the effects of COVID-19, as well as providing helpful online workshops and resources for the community with tips on maintaining positive wellbeing.

Adele says the lockdown period provided MHERC with the opportunity to accelerate their plans to launch an eLibrary.  

She says the eLibrary has a large collection of digital books and resources on mental health and wellbeing, which can be easily accessed on their website.

Rātā Foundation provides funding to the Mental Health Education and Resource Centre under the Support focus area, enabling the provision of services to people with mental health challenges or people with addictions.
